Business Blue Template

Click to enlarge Business Blue Blogger template

Business Blue is a clean three column new Blogger template with a simple, yet soothing blue and white header image. Blue is dominant color throughout this design and it’s widget ready so you can customize it however you like.

The top tabs are setup to be easily configurable within your page layout window. Just edit the “top tabs” widget and add all the tabs you want. The “Home” tab and rss feed icon will automatically appear once you add and save your first tab.

This template also has the cool FEEDJIT widget pre-installed so you’ll be able to tell real-time who and what country your visitors came from.

There’s plenty of space for banner or button ads so it can easily be used for a make money blog. This template was submitted by “Oz” and it’s a nice one.

Revision History

The adding tabs part doesn’t seem to be working for me. Any ideas?

Pete on Apr 8, 2008, 1:21 pm

also, can you tell me how i can have just the background image that the top, and not the text header label?

Bernard on Apr 8, 2008, 11:43 pm

This is great. I use this for my blog too. Thanks for sharing.

David on Apr 9, 2008, 4:44 am

Hi Pete, it looks like you figured it out. Do you mind posting your solution so others can do the same? Thanks!

Pete on Apr 9, 2008, 4:47 am

actually i haven’t figured it ou. Still no tabs, and still haven’t figured out how to have just the graphic, no text in front of it. Waiting on someone to give me a good answer..

David on Apr 9, 2008, 8:32 pm

Pete, did you try adding the tabs via your blogger page layout editor? There should be a widget called “top tabs” if I remember correctly which is a link list. Then add new tabs and they should appear automatically.

As far as removing the title and description from your header, you’ll need to edit the code. Make sure you create a backup of this template before making any changes so you can easily go back if needed. In your html edit mode, check the “expand widget elements” checkbox before you copy or edit the code. This will show the entire template code.

Next, search for <data:title/> and for <data:description/> which are the tags that display the title and description in your header. You should remove them and then save it. That should do the trick. Again, make sure you back everything up in case you make a mistake. I’d hate for you to lose any work you’ve put into your widgets.

thanks for the help.

I have already done as suggested as far as the top tabs goes – i went into the widget in the page elements portion and tried adding links to the “top tabs” widget. Nothing happened, and it didn’t appear on the page still.

I’ll have to try out the second part of your solution, i’ll report back tomorrow if it works. thanks!

David on Apr 10, 2008, 12:36 am

Pete, it sounds like the top tabs widget or at least a part of it was removed so that’s why it’s not working properly for you. Good luck with removing the other elements…

Peter on Apr 10, 2008, 5:21 am

I was able to remove the title and description, now i just need to figure out the whole top tabs part.

If someone would be willing to take a look at my xml template to see if they can figure out why the top tabs aren’t showing, it would be appreciated.

My email address here

thanks!

David on Apr 10, 2008, 5:49 am

Glad the title & description removal worked for you. It might be easier if you try and download the template again and just compare the code with your existing template. Then copy over the missing top tabs widget section and that should do it. I should have thought of that before.

Peter on Apr 10, 2008, 7:18 am

The top tabs section seems to be intact as far as i can tell when comparing.. I’m a bit baffled. also, its a bit strange, but in IE only, the top graphic doesn’t look quite right on the homepage. In firefox and others it looks fine. Any ideas why that might be? when you go to the post details page, it looks fine..

Hey, I’m confused too, how can my blog title description shown on under the top bar?

Stefen on May 11, 2008, 9:24 am

Pretty cool layout 😀 I think It would be better if you add category for post….

Wellerson on May 11, 2008, 5:08 pm

it’s great. I’m trying to customize it to my needs though. You say it’s all set up to know where and how many have visited the blog, where can I review it?
Thanks
Well

David on May 11, 2008, 7:23 pm

@Well, it’s the Feedjit widget which shows you right on your blog who has visited it. You’ll see country flags and other data.

David on May 11, 2008, 7:27 pm

@hwZZZ, it should automatically display if you already have a blogger description added within Blogger. Make sure it’s there.

Some problem in Internet Explorer 6. Please correct it. Otherwise it is nice. One particular thing I noticed with his template is it loads quickly on all browsers.

Can anybody tell me how to change the font and colours. When trying to change it in the layout settings it is not accessible.

David on Jun 1, 2008, 8:46 am

@br_876, if you can’t change it in the layout settings, then you need to edit the actual template’s .css code. If you aren’t familiar with .css, then you’ll need to read up on that first. 😉

br_876 on Jun 1, 2008, 9:55 am

David, Thanks for the reply. I have managed to change the size and font of letters in the post, but now I am unable to do the same for the post titles. Can you help me if I give the .xml file ?

I want to increase the size and change it into blue color.

ladyheart on Jun 27, 2008, 11:36 pm

1) How can I have in this wonderful template, two different colours as background/coloured boxes for comments – one for visitors and the other for myself just to set the responses apart? You have a similar system here – the yellow and grey background for comments.

2) Is it possible to number the comments so that in a conversation it is easy to refer/quote an earlier comment by its number?

3)What should I do to add a line under the topic title?

I hope the questions are not out of scope. I can learn with guidance and my CSS knowledge is self-taught.

I think this is the template I need for my purpose (a sports blog primarily featuring historical reviews/research), but I’d like to tweak a few things first like the three points above.

Thank you and what a wonderfully helpful site this is! 🙂

Why the date of our post cannot show up?

Looking into the codes, it should be a date appeared on a black square image, right side of the post-title. That code is [ .date { … } ]

Honestly, I like that theme so much.. clean & elegant, but just being annoyed – gotta type the post-date manually as my first paragraph. I think even the simplest or the worst template i tried before, the post date should be there automatically.

Please answer, or post an updated version for this template. Will ya? Thanks.

brentevans on Aug 2, 2008, 8:43 am

Love this theme.
Is there any way to easily embed a Google Custom Search box into the header at the top right?

brentevans on Aug 2, 2008, 11:43 am

Also wondering if there is an easy way to make the header “clickable” so that when you click anywhere on the header image, it directs you to the home page of the site.

Hellow i cant install BUSINESS BLUE TEMPLATE the Error saying as follow “The new widget id “SearchBox” is invalid for type: HTML”

What to do?

David on Mar 10, 2009, 11:24 am

@Kalai, just rename the “SearchBox” id to “HTML33” and it will be fixed. Blogger made a change recently that is causing all sorts of problems with 3rd party gadgets.

Kalai on Mar 10, 2009, 7:26 pm

Thank you very David. i renamed but again another error saying as “The new widget id “Feedjit” is invalid for type: HTML”

Widget ids and Recent Posts/Comments.

Many people are having a problem uploading templates because of changes that Blogger has made. For instance Blogger now requires all widget ids to match the widget type. This causes problems with third party templates and widget names.

The full answer is too long for a comment so I have posted an article on on Uncovering Blogs to explain the cure for this problem.

I downloaded Daya Earth and successfully uploaded it to a test blog after making the changes.
