After creating the coolest premium Blogger template, Revolution Church, we decided to also convert the Revolution Lifestyle theme as well! Now you can choose between two of the coolest premium Blogger templates available today.

Not only has eBlog Templates ported this over to Blogger, we’ve added some great features to really turbo-charge and make this another great premium Blogger template.

This is the second premium Blogger template we’ve released that is virtually plug and play. No images to host or have to worry about the links breaking after a few months. No mucking with the template code to change colors, add tabs, modify AdSense code, etc. We’ve designed this template with the ease of usability in mind so Bloggers of all levels can utilize the full power of this premium template. Not only do you get this amazing template but you also get the full installation video series which walks you through configuring every gadget step-by-step.

Don’t be fooled by those free Lifestyle Revolution templates that are poorly converted to blogger. They might look nice from their demo but those templates usually require you to make all the changes within the code and stop working properly after a few months. They also don’t include a step-by-step video series.

You don’t have to take our word for it though. Here’s what just a few of our many satisfied buyers had to say after purchasing and using this template:

“I absolutely LOVE this template!” — Kristy
“Great job! Well worth the cost!” — Lydia

This Blogger template comes with a ton of advanced features including:

Hosted images on Photobucket. Free use forever!

Favicon support so you can add your own url icon

Compressed CSS to speed up your page load times

SEO-friendly page titles to help you rank higher in Google

Multiple AdSense gadgets already included in prime locations

Automatically highlight author comments

Embedded JavaScript date code showing current day

Fonts and colors support so you can change on the fly

YouTube video gadget to show off your favorite video

Link list gadget to easily setup your header tabs

Recent comments and posts gadgets

Integrated Blogger reactions support (new!)

Built-in Feedburner RSS feed and email gadget

FeedJit live traffic feed gadget

Bonus – FREE 125 x 125 ad gadget!

Bonus – FREE Step-by-step installation video series

I promise that you’ve never seen such a complete and professional Blogger template like this one. With the amount of time and effort we’ve put into this, it’s easily worth more than the cost. Ready to turn your blog into a masterpiece? Check out the live demo or buy this premium Blogger template now!

Important – Please Read Before Purchasing

This template does NOT work with the older Blogger Classic layout. Please make sure you are NOT using Classic layout before purchasing this template. Most bloggers are now using the newer layout so you most likely don’t need to worry. Also, eBlog Templates is not the original designer of this template. It was originally designed by WordPress theme mastermind, Brian Gardner. We have spoken directly with Brian and with his approval, have converted it to Blogger and made it available for sale. If you are a WordPress user, you can download his theme for free without any support (only works on WordPress not Blogger).

So why do I have to pay for this template then?

The cost of this template covers the many days of labor and effort put into converting this amazing design into a premium Blogger template as well as building the step-by-step video series. Your purchase does include the complete instructional “how to install and configure” the Revolution Lifestyle Blogger template video series. If you think about it, it’s actually a small price to pay for such a functional, advanced, and professional Blogger template. Buy this premium Blogger template now!

Refund Policies

Since this is a digital product there are no refunds after payment has been made. Please make 100% sure you want this template before making the purchase. You also need to be willing to spend 30-60 minutes configuring the template before it looks like the live demo. Our free video installation series will make it easy. We want you to be successful!

Since we can’t test every single Blogger gadget (including 3rd party gadgets) we can’t promise they will all work with this template. Every blog is different and some of your existing gadgets might not be compatible which means either the gadget will need to be removed or modified accordingly. We do provide community-level support which means posting your questions as comments. The installation videos that accompany this template are designed for skills of all levels.

Affiliate Program

Want to put some extra money in your pocket? Why not join our affiliate program and become part of the eBlog Templates sales team! You will earn 30% for each sale you make (i.e. $20 template = $6 for you!) We use E-junkie which is the industry standard for handling affiliate sales. Join now and start making money selling this premium template today!

Here’s an oldie but goodie template that was requested by several people. It’s the 4th template in the “Andreas” series and it’s a simple 3 column gem. It’s perfect for a blog that doesn’t want to be too flashy yet needs the flexibility to have many widgets in the sidebar.

This template is entirely made up of zero images (well, actually just one for the quotes) so it loads really fast. You also don’t have to worry about your images disappearing since they aren’t hosted anywhere.

Features Include:

Two right sidebars for all your widgets

Dynamic tab creation using the link list widget

Built in link unit AdSense above the first post

Ability to alter the colors using Blogger’s “fonts & colors”

A cool FeedIt live traffic widget

Recent comments and posts widgets

The template was originally created for WordPress by Andreas Viklund and then ported over to Classic Blogger by Gecko & Fly. BlogCrowds then converted it into new Blogger xml and eBlog Templates enhanced it. Quite a bit of history which shows it’s a template that’s still in demand today.

Are you tired of getting a ton of spam everyday? I am too but unfortunately there is no solution to eliminate it 100% but there are smart ways to avoid and reduce spam. The method I’m going to talk about is aimed at bloggers and how they can easily implement a preventative measure to reduce the amount and chances of spam being sent to them.

With the popularity and ease of setting up a blog, the number of people blogging increases daily. This is great but one main problem is most of these people aren’t usually educated in proper techniques such as spam prevention.

Did you know that putting your email address anywhere on your blog or website is an open invitation for new spam? Yes, you heard me right. Little do you know that trying to be nice and provide a method for your readers to contact you only causes you more harm than good.

Let me give you an example. The usual way to include your email address on your blog is to use the mailto: tag. This is the case if you use Blogger and any other blogging platform. Unfortunately for you, spam harvesters use “web spiders” to troll the internet and look for email address links on websites and blogs. When they come across your site they will look at the html code and grab your address.

Prevent Spam Harvesters From Getting Your Email Address

The best way to beat spam bots as well as giving your readers a way to contact you is to use a contact submission form. That way your email address is never displayed and a script handles the entire mailing process. This is a great option if you use WordPress but for people using Blogger, it’s not an option.

You don’t know how many Blogger blogs I’ve come across and just rolled my eyes. There it is…their email address listed right on their site. Look out spam, here it comes! So my quick solution to protect all blogs (especially Blogger users) from spam bots is to replace your email address with an image.

There are several sites out there that can create free email icon images for you but I like using this email icon generator site because it provides several cool options. My favorite is the branded email image based on your email host provider.

Here are some examples of email images I created in a few seconds:

As you can see, it supports all the popular email domain addresses as well as an option to create your own custom email address. It even hosts the image for you if you don’t want to copy and upload it to your own server. I recommend uploading it to your Blogger site so you’ve always got it available regardless.

Make sure after you use these images you do NOT turn them into a mailto link. If your email address is anywhere in the html code, spam harvesters will find it. I had a friend that I shared this trick with and he replaced his email address with this image but didn’t remove the mailto link! He might as well of not even used the image.

Damage Control – Where is My Email Address Today?

Ever wonder if your email address is publicly available today? A good test to see what sites publicly list your email address is to just Google it. If your email address is sjobs@mac.com then you’ll see that there are over 500 results in Google which is obviously a bad sign (I hope Steve Jobs has one heck of a good spam filter). There should be zero listings of your email address when you do a search. If not, you should go down the list of sites and ask them to kindly remove your email address because they are just feeding it to spam harvesters!

I usually Google my personal email address a few times a year just as a safety check. Just last year as I was doing my check, I noticed there was one site listing it! I was so mad and immediately contacted the site owner to take it down. It was an article submission site and they were carelessly publicly listing all their users email addresses. That’s just bad business. Eventually they took it down and I told them they should do the same for everyone else in their system.

Conclusion

If there’s one thing to take away from this article it’s to remember to never ever ever list your raw email address on your blog. It’s a guaranteed way to get spam faster than you can say “spam me please”. If you don’t believe me try setting up a new temporary email address and don’t use it for anything except this test. Now paste it on your blog and see how long it takes before you start getting junk email.

I hope the end of spam comes in the near future because just like you, I’m tired of wasting time in my day filtering and deleting junk email. Google or someone, please come up with a solution soon!

In the past, your typical blogger would be content enough just having their own blog. But now, bloggers in general are becoming more knowledgeable with ways to monetize their blog and with the availability of free information on the web, they do a decent job.

For example, how many blogs do you read these days that actually don’t have some sort of advertising on it? Not many and for good reason. Why not try and make some money since you spend all this time writing and blogging, right?

Secondly, how many blogs have you come across where the AdSense advertisement is not at all relevant to the blog’s theme or content? Some of them are actually pretty funny if you read the ads. Here’s an ad that actually showed up on eBlog Templates next to one of the template pages.

Can anyone tell my who would be interested in buying “Birds Trees” (what are birds trees anyhow??) from a site that provides templates and other resources for bloggers? Now, if the template page this ad was on was related to nature or birds, then that would be fine. That wasn’t the case though for this page.

Showing irrelevant ads on blogs (especially newer blogs) these days is a pretty common occurrence. New blogs don’t have much (if any) content since their new, so Google isn’t sure what your blog is about. Since eBlog Templates is only a few months old, it’s one of the reasons you’ll see irrelevant ads showing up. After several months and a lot of blog posts later, Google should get a better feel for what your blog is all about and display more targeted ads.

But why not give Google AdSense some guidance now as to what parts of your page it should create these targeted ads from? Well, now you can with Google’s Section Targeting feature.

Google’s Section Targeting allows you to suggest sections of your blog posts and HTML content that you’d like them to emphasize or downplay when matching ads to your site’s content. By providing Google with your suggestions, you can help them improve your blog’s ad targeting.

How Does Section Targeting Work?

It’s actually quite easy and to implement Section Targeting, you’ll need to add a set of special HTML comment tags to your blog template code. These tags will mark the beginning and end of whichever section(s) you’d like to emphasize or de-emphasize for ad targeting.

The HTML tags to emphasize a page section take the following format:

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

You can also designate sections you’d like to have ignored like your navigation, sidebar, or anything that’s not worth targeting by adding a (weight=ignore) to the starting tag:

<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Once you add these tags to your WordPress or Blogger template code, you won’t immediately notice a change. There’s actually nothing visual to see as well so don’t expect anything to show up. If you view your blog’s source code from your browser, you’ll see these new tags, however.

How Many Section Targeting Tags Can I Use?

You can use as many Section Targeting tags on a page as you like. However, just because you use several Section Targeting tags doesn’t guarantee you’ll get results. I’d recommend only using one or two on each page otherwise Google might just ignore them.

How Long Before Google Recognizes the Tags?

It can take at least 2 weeks before Google crawlers figure out the changes you’ve made and update your AdSense account. Some sites might not even notice a difference because the ads were already pretty well targeted in the first place.

Setting Up Section Targeting For Blogger

If you’re familiar with editing Blogger templates then this will be a breeze for you. If not, it’s still rather easy to setup since you’re only dealing with two new lines of code. Before anything, make a backup copy of your current template just in case you mess something up. Next, you’ll want to open your template code in something like notepad or any text editor. You can even edit it right in the Blogger html window but it’s small and harder to search for things.

Now you want to search your template for the
<data:post.body/>
tag. There should only be one in your entire template. This tag is very important as it prints out your blog posts. It’s the meat of your template code and without it, your blog wouldn’t really work. Next you’ll want to surround this tag with the Google AdSense code. Essentially, we’re telling AdSense whatever text is in your Blogger posts is what it should display relevant ads for.

Here’s what your updated code should look like:

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

<data:post.body/>

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Some people also want to setup Section Targeting for their blog post titles which is fine as well. You basically do the same steps shown here but for the
<data:post.title/>
 tags. There are usually at least two so make sure you wrap them all if you decide to make this change.

Save your template code and load it back into Blogger. Look at your blog and view the page source. You should now see these Google AdSense tags in your code!

Setting Up Section Targeting For WordPress

For WordPress users, you follow the same steps as above but you’ll want to edit the single.php or index.php page. You’re looking for the
<?php the_content();?>
tag which is equivalent to the
<data:post.body/>
tag for Blogger. Wrap the Google AdSense tags around the content tag and that’s it.

Here’s what your updated code should look like:

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

<?php the_content();?>

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Now another trick I do is also wrap my comments with the Google AdSense tags as well. Blog comments are a great way to build up additional relevant content to an existing post. Most of the time your comments are very relevant to your post so why not give AdSense more text to use for ad matching? This works especially well if your blog post is short and you’ve got a lot of comments.

To make this change you’ll want to edit your comments.php file and look for the
<?php comment_text()?>
tag. The modified code should look like this:

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

<?php comment_text()?>

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Extra Tip – Ignore Sections of Your Blog

For any type of blog you can also use the ignore AdSense tag. This is great for sections that are static or don’t really tell Google much about what your blog is about. Like I mentioned briefly above, this would be things like your top navigation, sidebar, or some other advertisements you may be running on your site which are not relative to your blog’s theme and content.

<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Important Note

In order to properly implement Section Targeting, you’ll need to include a significant amount of content within the section targeting tags. This means make sure your blog posts are a pretty good length otherwise insufficient content may result in less relevant ads or public service ads and it’s not worth adding these tags. It is also against Google’s AdSense policy to manipulate the ad targeting code to result in ads that are not relevant to the content of your pages. Don’t do it otherwise you risk getting banned from AdSense.

Conclusion

After you’ve made all these changes, you should start seeing improved targeted AdSense ads on your blog. It might take a few weeks before Google updates their system so be patient. Your AdSense earnings should also go up since more relative ads means you have a better chance of visitors clicking on them. Here’s to making more money from your blog! If you don’t already have an AdSense account, you can sign up for one for free.

Many of us have blogs and templates we’d like to customize but we just don’t have the skills or software to do it. It also takes time to make design elements in photo editing software so why even bother right? Well, thanks to a cool new website I found called My Cool Button, you can easily create your own Web 2.0 buttons in only 4 steps!

You’ll select the size, color scheme, icon (if you want one), font size & type, and then enter your button text. It’s as easy as it can get. You then click on the “apply changes” button and you’ll see what your button looks like. Then download it to your computer and put it on your blog!

If you were an early user of eBlog Templates you’ll remember the template download buttons looked very similar to these. That’s because the first buttons used on this site were made from the My Cool Button website! I needed something quick and dirty and I didn’t want to spent a lot of time designing buttons in Photoshop so the buttons I made served their purpose but have since been replaced.

Here’s a couple of buttons I made in literally less than 30 seconds. Pretty amazing huh. No need for photo editing software knowledge or to hire a designer!

This is a picture of what the site looks like if you haven’t already seen it from the link above. As you can see it’s only 4 easy steps (3 if you don’t want in icon) and you’ll have your new button in no time.

So head on over to My Cool Button and start whipping out cool Web 2.0 buttons for your blog today! It doesn’t cost you a thing and you can’t beat the speed.

This is a pretty popular Blogger hack that lots of people have asked me about. Instead of answering to each email individually, I thought it would make more sense to write an article about it.

With this hack, you can choose to display a select amount of text from the beginning of each post as a teaser instead of showing the entire post on the front page of your blog. Then when people want to read the rest of the post, they can click a “read more” link to see the full post. This is very handy if you have lots of long articles all on one page. (Note that you’ll need to have post pages enabled in order to make this feature work.)

Step #1 – Update Your Template Code

First you need to edit your existing code so I recommend copying and pasting it into notepad or any text editor. Also, it’s smart at this point to create a backup of your template just in case something goes wrong. Now do a search (CTRL + F) within the text editor for the following code post-header-line-1. This is the default code that Blogger includes but some custom templates remove or change this code so you might have trouble finding it. If you can’t locate this text then try searching for <data:post.body/> instead. Your template will for sure have this since it’s the tag that actually prints the body of your post.

Now depending on which code you were able to find will determine how easy the next steps will be. You might need to do some detective work first in order to get this working properly in your custom template. The idea is to get this new code into your template before the <data:post.body/> tag. Keep reading and hopefully the explanation will illustrate the concept clear enough so you are able to adapt this hack to your custom template.

Add the following code below the <div class=’post-header-line-1′/> and <div class=’post-header-line’> tags if you’ve got both.

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'>
<style>.fullpost{display:inline;}</style>
<p><data:post.body/></p>
<b:else/>
<style>.fullpost{display:none;}</style>

The result should look something like this:

If you don’t have the default
<div class='post-header-line-1'/>
tag then your result should look something like this instead. This is how it would be done in the MushBlue Blogger custom template:

Notice in both examples that the code in yellow and the <data:post.body/> tags are the same — it’s just tag above it that will differ based on the template you’re using.

Now let’s add one more bit of code which will actually create the “read more” link in your post. This code will go below the <data:post.body/> tag so copy the following and paste it in. Feel free to change the “Read more…” text to whatever you want the link to look like. Be careful not to delete any other code during this process.

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType != "item"'><br />
<a expr:href='data:post.url'>Read more...</a>
</b:if>
</b:if>

Yes, there are supposed to be two </b:if> tags in the above code so don’t think it’ s a mistake. The result should look like this:

This code will be the same no matter what template you are using. Just make sure it goes below the <data:post.body/> as shown in the image above.

Now let’s look at what the final result should be. Here’s the updated code block you just worked on all put together:

Ok, you’re all done editing the template code. Paste it back into your Blogger html window and save it. If you get an error, you made a mistake. The most common mistake is to accidentally delete a > or < while pasting in the new code. If it saved successfully, it’s time to move onto the next step and modify a quick Blogger format setting.

Step #2 – Add a Class Tag in Your Default Post Template

For this step, you need to navigate in your Blogger account to “Settings” => “Formatting” and scroll all the way down to the bottom. It’s the last option called “Post Template”. You’re going to paste in the following code:

<span class="fullpost">

</span>

You’ll want to keep the spaces in there which will make sense later. After you save this, it will look like this:

Step #3 – Create a New Post

Ok, we’ve got everything all setup so it’s time to go and test it out. Hopefully you’ve got a new post in mind for your blog. If not, then we’ll just create a test post which you can later delete. When you click on the “Posting” tab, you’ll notice that the post text area is now pre-populated with the <span class=”fullpost”> and </span> tags. If not, then you didn’t save it properly so go back and re-read step #2.

So when writing your new post, anything you put above the <span class=”fullpost”> tag will be the teaser text. The main body of your post needs to go in between the <span class=”fullpost”> and </span> tags in order for the “read more…” link to work properly. See the screenshot below. Sometimes pictures illustrate better than words.

Now publish or preview your post to see the “read more” hack working on your blog. If it doesn’t show up for some reason, go back and run through the steps again. Most likely you pasted the code blocks in the wrong places. It’s difficult to troubleshoot these issues since each template can be unique so please make sure to double-check your template before asking for help in the comments section below.

Here’s the live post with the “read more…” link properly working based on the text I used above in the post text area.

Additional Info

If you want to go back and update your old posts with this new “read more…” feature you can. Just go back and edit each post manually. Essentially you’ll need to paste in the <span class=”fullpost”> and </span> tags breaking apart the post into two parts.

For some posts, you might not want to use this feature at all. If that’s the case, just delete the <span class=”fullpost”> and </span> tags from within your new post text area. Then your new post will show up entirely just like it used to before you implemented this hack. Enjoy!
