This is actually v2.0 of the great magazine WordPress theme Arthemia.  There are changes in the post list on the front page, some CSS fixes, new thumbnail feature for post list on the front page, archive, and search pages, modified comment list style, and added the WP-PageNavi plugin support. Pages and sub-pages in the top navigation bar are now shown automatically.

If you don’t like the placeholder ads, you can of course replace them with whatever ads you like.

There is also plenty of room for adding ads if you wish to magnetize your blog. The space is large enough to accommodate 250px banner ads or four to six 125×125px “box” ads. Social bookmarking links have been ingenuously built into the footer of each post.

Overall, the theme features two columns with the ability to widgetize the sidebars and three column footer. Several plugins have been integrated (or the theme has been pre-configured to integrate) including wp-polls plugin by Lester Chan, wp-ratings plugin, wp-page-nav plugin, share-this plugin by Alex King, wp-grin plugin, as well as the most commented plugin (integrated in functions).

I really like this theme because it’s simple yet modern enough to feel like a web 2.0 style blog. I actually haven’t upgraded to WordPress 2.5 yet but do like and appreciate the new design and layout of the admin section.

This theme was designed and built by Hyder from Weborithm. He’s got some other great designs and has his own professional blog design service. Check out his examples of past work he’s done. I really like the custom characters he’s created.

The Charred WordPress theme features post thumbnails which means you’ll have to use WordPress custom Fields when writing a post. If you’ve never used a custom field before it’s pretty easy to learn.

So here’s how it works. When writing a new post you’ll first have to create a 140 x 140 thumbnail image that you want to use for your post. After it’s ready upload it, and then create a new custom field called “thumbnail”.

Here’s a screen shot the theme designer provided:

You’ll only need to enter the word “thumbnail” into the “Key” field the first time. For each new post after that, it will automatically appear in the drop down box so just select it. The upload your new image, get the image url, and then paste it into the “Value” field. Don’t forget to click the “Update” action button each time.

Overall this is a great new modern WordPress theme and if you’re looking for a new skin for your site with the ability to add images to each post, this is the one for you.

The main area on the left side is very spacious so your posts will have plenty of room to use. Enjoy this nice purple colored theme!
